If you ever need to take out the gearbox, the guide says to use this tool to hold up the motor.

The engine is held in the car by the transmission, which is held to the car quite firmly. If you undo the transmission from the car, the motor will fall down and clock you on the head (or so I'm told). While the transmission is out, tie some good rope around this tool, and then through the loops on top of your engine. Works like a champ.
Don't ask me how I know, but make sure you know where the rope is when it comes time to start the engine again. It doesn't at all mind getting sucked into and around pulleys and belts.
